The three Real Estate taxing authorities: Bucks County, Bensalem Township and the Bensalem School District are separate entities and do NOT share revenue. County taxes are levied by the Bucks County Commissioners, Township taxes are levied by Mayor Joseph DiGirolamo and the Town Council: Ed Kisselback, Joseph Knowles, Tony Belfield, Joe Pilieri and Joe Szafran, and School taxes are levied by the Board of School Directors. As of January 2005, the Bensalem School District gets 78% of every tax dollar, Bucks County gets 12% of every tax dollar, Bensalem Township gets 9% of every tax dollar, and the Fire Companies and Rescue Squad get 1% of every tax dollar. This ratio is subject to change in June, which is when the School District will adopt its budget for the next school year.
